SEEC II

SERVOTECH EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROLLER (Version 2)

Equipped with the powerful Motorola HCS12 Microcontroller, SEEC II is a whole new board that offers plenty of options for almost all automotive applications.

SEEC II has been designed in away that it gives the user both flexibility and ability to implement the required control strategy and assigned task.

Inputs s Outputs:

SEEC II provides both the strength and the flexibility needed to fit into any control strategy used. With up to 10 analog inputs (10bit resolutions), SEEC II can be configured to accept 10 sensors in its inputs. If the control strategy requires parameters form the vehicle network, SEEC II has a CAN (controller area network) communication, up to five different CAN speed/configurations. Having CAN communication in SEEC II makes it extremely powerful in modern cars as CAN communication is a must in all new manufactured cars. In addition to analog and network capabilities, SEEC II offers plenty of digital inputs for applications that require Control Signals inputs.

On the Output side, SEEC II provides lots of options to output different types of signals. Starting with driving injectors, DC motors, LED’s and indicators, SEEC II has the ability to drive up to 8 injectors at the same time with highly stable power line and precise Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal. The injectors can be driven through a very accurate variable PWM frequency (0.01 Hz to 1 KHz) and pulse width (as low as 100µS). It can also drive DC motors up to 5A/12V in both directions and very precise variable speed control.

Along with the output driving features, SEEC II gives control signals as digital outputs (0-5V) in addition to the Network feature which is a duplex communication (send/receive). On the top of all of that, SEEC II can accept inputs and gives outputs in the other types of communications available in the Embedded Systems Technology such as IIC, RS232 and SPI.

Data Logging:

With such huge flexibility in the input/output part, a solid data logging feature is a must. SEEC II has an On-Board Real-time data logger that can store plenty of on-road parameters with a time stamps taken from the Real Time Clock (RTC) installed. Such data logger and variety of input/output types plus the ability for the user to define what to record in the On-Board flash memory, SEEC II can be used as a Data Acquisition System.

Diagnostic:

When driving injectors, any Control Strategy needs to be aware of any Hardware malfunctioning that may occur. For this reason, SEEC II provides OBD (On-Board Diagnostic) system to keep both the user and the control strategy updated with the hardware situation through either the live data being recorded or LED’s indicators that are installed on the Board. For Data Display, SEEC II is equipped with an optional LCD that can display a user-customized information and offer a convenient way to monitor the parameters and indicators in real-time.

PC Communication:

SEEC II provides full communication with PC via both RS232 serial communication and USB communication. ServoTech provides very flexible computer software that can fully communicate with SEEC II. The following features are available in the SEEC II Graphical User Interface (GUI):

1. Accessing the On-board flash memory upload/download into a Microsoft Excel file.

2. Recording data in Real-time via live communication with the board. This includes reading the inputs (digital or analog or even CAN inputs), and monitoring the outputs (DC Motor speed and direction and Injectors PWM frequency and pulse width), and all other flags and indicators that are implemented in the control algorithm.

3. Giving Direct commands to injectors/Dc motor in real-time.

4. Monitoring the implemented Control Strategy live, and changing the settings to fit the experiment requirements needed.

5. Ability to access the CAN traffic (reading messages in the CAN bus) to which the board is connected.

6. Downloading new settings to the board. This includes the control strategy settings and the data logging options.
